How we make money
Compound is free to read and always will be. Here's exactly how it's funded, and the lines we won't cross to stay that way.
A site about money should be honest about its own. We think you deserve to know how any publication giving you financial guidance pays its bills, because that's where bias creeps in. So here it is, plainly.
How we're funded
- Advertising. As Compound grows, we may show display advertising on the site. Ads are clearly ads; they never influence what we write or which products we rate well.
- Affiliate links. Sometimes we link to a product or service, an investment platform, a savings account, a tool, and if you sign up we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only ever link to things we'd genuinely consider using ourselves, and a commission never buys a recommendation or a better write-up.
That's it. We're reader-first, funded quietly in the background so the guidance stays free.
The lines we won't cross
- No pay-for-coverage. No company can buy an article, a mention, a ranking, or a kinder review. Ever.
- Recommendations are editorial. What we rate well is decided on the merits, before any commercial consideration, and we'll happily say when a popular product isn't worth it.
- We flag it when we earn. Where a page contains affiliate links, we tell you. No hidden deals.
- Your data isn't the product. We don't sell your information. See our privacy policy.
Being upfront about this is part of the point of Compound. If you ever feel a piece reads like it's selling rather than helping, tell us, get in touch and we'll take it seriously.
For how we research and check what we publish, see our editorial standards.
